The constitution of Mercamadrid Foundation was approved by Mercamadrid, S.A. Board of Directors, at the Meeting that took place last 10th December, 2003.

Mercamadrid Foundation object is contributing to competitiveness improvement of Madrid companies by means of fulfilling its “Foundation Aims”.

Foundation Aims

Promotion and encouragement of I+D+I projects related to sustainable methods and techniques for improving, producing, preserving , transforming and selling foodstuffs, as well as the promotion of safety, quality and healthy proprieties of food. All from an integrated approach through a competitive production and compatible with industrial development and environment concern.

Thus, Mercamadrid Foundation will develop actions related to training, quality, trademark, I+D and technological innovation, paying always attention to food, nutrition, logistics and retail technology matters.

Board of trustees:

It is who governs, represents and manages the Foundation. It is made up of all the members of Mercamadrid, S.A. Board of Directors.

The training courses are imparted in Mercamadrid Foundation's facilities, a 800 m2 building distributed into two floors where classroom for theory and practice are located.

Mercamadrid Foundation will developed courses, seminars and workshops to promote and spread, beyond others, theses items:

• Food quality related to manipulation and distribution of products.
• Food security within the Food Industry
• Knowledge of the Industrial Trade Property and Labels

It is an aim to get agreements with several Universities for student's practical lessons.

• Projects in Optimization of food techniques including trazability labels.
• New process of production and transformation of food products.
• Divulgate new technologies for companies in the Distribution sector.
