17 January 2008: Mercamadrid holds a recognition celebration for the recipients of the 2006 and 2007 Hermes Awards

Mercamadrid International has started 2008 with a ceremony to honor the 2006 and 2007 recipients of the Mercamadrid Hermes Oro Awards.

The Hermes Oro Awards, created in 2006 by the Board of Directors of Mercamadrid are intended to distinguish and reward the Persons, Entities and Bodies which business and professional history, contribution to technological development and innovation, internationalization or contribution towards social cohesion and quality are helping, from the Market, to transform and improve society at large.

The Hermes Oro Awards are given in recognition of outstanding performance in the following four categories:
- Business and professional evolution
- Technological innovation
- Internationalization
- Special mentions of the Board of Directors

Mercamadrid Internacional, after 25 years of professional life, has had the opportunity to witness the start of many business initiatives that have lasted in time. The Hermes Oro Awards represent Mercamadrid’s desire to thank and acknowledge the efforts of those people and enterprises that make a lasting effort to learn, grow and advance.

In 2006, the Hermes Oro Awards for business and professional performance, for contribution to the evolution and development of the Market of enterprises which endeavor strengthens and promotes wholesale and Market commercial activity went to:

- Mr. Luis Mayo García, from CIAMAR, S.L., an enterprise operating at the Central Fish Market.
- Mr. Manuel Jaquete Bueno from MANUEL JAQUETE, S.L., an enterprise operating at the Central Meat Market.
- The late Mr. Vicente Cyil Rodriguez from FRUTAS CYIL, S.L., an enterprise operating at the Central Fruit and Produce Market.

The Hermes Oro Award for Internationalization was awarded to ARC EUROBANAN, S.L., and received by the President of the company, Mr. Ángel Rey Rodríguez.

The 2006 Hermes Oro Award for Technological Innovation was awarded to EL CORTE INGLÉS, S.A., and received by the President of the company Mr. Isidoro Álvarez Álvarez.

The 2007 Hermes Oro Awards 2007 for Business and Professional Evolution for contribution to the advancement and development of the Market of enterprises which endeavor strengthens and promotes wholesale and Market commercial activity went to:
- Mr. Ángel Mozos Ramírez, from ÁNGEL MOZOS RAMÍREZ, S.L. operating at the Central Fish Market.
- Mr. Manuel Carrasco Alfonso, from CENTRIMERCA, S.A operating at the Central Fruit and Produce Market
- Mr. Jose Antonio Carlos Calbacho Santos from: CARLOS CALBACHO, S.L. operating at the Central Meat Market

The 2007 Hermes Oro Award for Internationalization was awarded to the ASOCIACIÓN DE EMPRESARIOS MAYORISTAS DE PESCADOS (the Fish Wholesalers Association), and received by the President of the Association, Francisco María Ferrer Alonso

And finally, the 2007 Hermes Oro Award for Technological Innovation was awarded to IBERICA DE PATATAS, S.L., and received by its General Director, Mr. Pablo Jiménez Gómez.
