15 January 2008: Mercamadrid International will participate in the Fruit Logistica in Berlin (February 2008)

Mercamadrid International will participate in the Fruit Logistica Trade Fair sharing a promotional stand with Rungis Marché International next February 2008 in the City of Berlin.
This cooperative effort is one of the actions undertaken to develop the agreement signed between Mercamadrid International and Semmaris (the company that exploits Rungis Marché International) with Rungis by participating in a joint activity (attending the most important fruit fair in Europe), as well as developing a joint image in Europe, since they are the two most important food wholesaler centers in the continent.

The protocol signed last July 2007 contains the intention of both organizations to join their efforts towards attaining objectives and maintaining a high level of communication and cooperation through new technologies, broadening the opportunities and horizons within reach of the business fabric of said sectors, and acknowledging the significant contribution towards economic growth and the generation of employment of each platform within its direct radius of influence.

The objectives to be achieved through the Protocol and with the aim to empower the Sector are: A) Improve the projection and development of proprietary brands and promote the external image by joint actions; b) Promote business meets to encourage employers of the sector to exchange experiences and favor the strengthening of the business fabric in both markets, C) Promote and develop new Information and Communication Technologies.

The Fruit Logistica Fair is considered as the first professional fair which aim is to commercialize fruit and produce worldwide. It encompasses all the sectors, areas and services for the fruit and produce trade, from seed production to point of sale going through grading, packaging, transportation and distribution.

In the 2006 edition it was attended by 35,992 professional visitors and 1,523 exhibitors from more than 70 countries. Spain occupied a prominent place, with 228 companies having their own promotional stand (15% of the total exhibitors).
