17 July 2006: Current situation of the Extension Project: Building a Technological Mercamadrid
On 15 June 2006, the General Directorate of Urban Planning of the City Council of Madrid presented the Local Administration Department of the Autonomous Community of Madrid with an application to urgently process the individual expropriation proceedings affected by the Special Extension Plan of Mercamadrid.
The application included the following documents:
- Reasoning and explanation of the circumstances of these exceptional proceedings (foreseen in Article 52 of the Spanish Expropriation Act).
- A certificate of the resolutions adopted by the Governing Council of the City Council of Madrid (16 March and 1 June), reflecting the outcome of the public information stage and providing a description of the allegations made.
- Copies of the announcements published in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, newspapers and bulletin boards.
- A copy of the bank guarantees provided by the company Mercamadrid, S.A., as the beneficiary of the expropriation, to secure the rights and assets affected by the expropriation.
- A plan setting out the scope of the object of the expropriation: AOE 00.05 Special Plan "Extension of Mercamadrid".
This application is still pending a reply from the corresponding body of the Autonomous Community of Madrid (Local Finance and Administration Department, dependent on the General Directorate of Cooperation with Local Administrations). This reply, expected by late December, will put an end to the proceedings.

PENDING A REPLY
June 2006
The Governing Council of the City of Madrid agreed to approve the list of property owners affected by the Expropriation Project, as well as an application to the competent body of the Autonomous Community of Madrid for the urgent processing of all administrative expropriation proceedings.

The City Council ratified the Agreement for Urban Planning Management in relation to the execution of the Special Extension Plan.

Commencement of the public information stage for land expropriation
August 2005
Publication of the final Extension Plan in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous Community of Madrid.

The City Council of Madrid gave its final approval to the AOE 00 05 Special Extension Plan of Mercamadrid.

An Extraordinary General Shareholders\rquote Meeting approved the clarifications to be made to the Special Plan (Urban Planning Regulations), in order to provide a better description of its use.

Details of the plan were published in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous Community of Madrid and in the press.

The Governing Council of the City Council of Madrid approved the "Special Extension Plan of Mercamadrid".
